It might sound far-fetched, but it’s true: a whopper of a research project that tracked the academic performance of over 100,000 kids showed that children performed significantly better in English, Math and Science classes when they learned a musical instrument alongside these studies.
In this largest study of its kind, researchers from Canada’s University of British Columbia lay it bare with this quote:
“...students highly engaged in music were, on average, academically over 1 year ahead of the peers not engaged in school music.”
